At the Tyndall Mental Health Clinic (MHC) we strive to provide quality patient care in assisting clients to overcome the negative symptoms they are encountering.  We accomplish this goal through the offerings of individual and couples counseling and classes led by technicians and providers.  The common thread that runs between these two therapeutic approaches is the involvement of the patient in their care.

It is important to consider that although the services offered by this clinic are excellent tools to help patients overcome their symptoms, active involvement in their treatment is ultimately going to make the most difference and provide for the most therapeutic progress.

Mental Health Mission

Our mission is to help the military community decrease symptoms of mental illness and to achieve their highest possible level of functioning.

Paramount in accomplishing this mission is respecting the dignity and worth of all individuals and asking for help, when needed.

We provide and arrange for comprehensive quality mental health services by setting and advancing the standard for excellence in patient care, education and training, while focusing on the provision of prompt, effective outpatient mental health services to all categories of Tri-Care beneficiaries.

We strongly encourage the development of each patients full potential and emphasize the importance of individual responsibility in the areas of living, learning, working, parenting and socializing.

We also stress the importance of patient involvement in their own care and seek to include the patient as much as possible in choosing treatment goals and options.

It is important to consider that mental health issues are much more likely to be resolved quickly and efficiently if the problem is recognized early.  If you feel that you have a problem you can no longer handle on your own we are here for you and will help you to resolve any Mental Health issues you may have.

Classes Offered

The clinic offers a variety of classes that allow for treatment in a group setting.  Many patients find that group therapy is more effective because other group members may make suggestions they have not considered.  The group setting may also provide a comfortable atmosphere for patients by putting them in a situation with other patients who are having similar experiences.

Mental Health Professionals at the MHC offer classes such as Stress Management to assist patients in dealing with the everyday stress of their jobs and personal lives.  Skills learned in this class include deep breathing and relaxation techniques.

The Mood Management Course is an educational class designed for patients who are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety; it is designed to teach participants techniques, using a holistic approach (cognitive, behavioral, physical, social) to reduce symptoms and take control of their mood.
